Key Points for lower Specific Water Consumption and Water Quality Management

  • Water Quality Management targets to use lowest possible amounts of water necessary for the process.
  • Internal counter current loop flow and Filtrate Clarification is important to secure as good quality of water as needed to run reliable production and avoid Contaminants (e.g. Stickie’s) agglomeration.
  • The Mill water volumes should be balanced to handle PM and Stock Preparation stops and startups, but be as low as possible to avoid biological activity and COD generation.
  • Freshwater should be used only for high-pressure felt showers, sealing, Chemical- and Steam Preparation and to compensate Evaporation.
  • Continuous Control of lowest possible water Consumption in Stock Preparation should be achieved by the “Smart Loop Concept” (Clarified Filtrate Recirculation)
